AI, A Multifunctional Invention
People nowadays are living in industrial revolution era. Technology nowadays is growing fast. People are compete to develop and advancing many new technologies. We are living in revolution of industry 4.0. Many advanced countries which are better in development of technology are creating new innovation that can help human work for example like programs or man-made systems. One of that technology is artificial intelligence.
This topic is interesting for us because it could give us the conception of the future and make human life better. This technology also have a high impact in industrial revolution and it inspires many experts to research and develop artificial intelligence further. It also give people some questions about this topic. What is artificial intelligence? What is the purpose of it? How it works? What are the advantages and negative impacts of this invention?
Firstly, we need to know what artificial intelligence is before we learn more about it. According to John McCarthy [1956], Artificial intelligence (also known as AI) is modeling human thought processes and designing machines to mimic human behavior. It is designed to learn from experience, adjust to new inputs and perform human-like tasks. Most AI examples that you hear about today – from chess-playing computers to self-driving cars – rely heavily on deep learning and natural language processing (Gaskin, James E. 2008).
Using these technologies, computers can be trained to accomplish specific tasks by processing large amounts of data and recognizing patterns in the data. In other words, AI could work like human brain. To think, to learn, to memorize, and to act like human brain does. AI is invented to help human in their jobs, most them are automation works so human could done the work faster, easier, and more efficient. AI works by combining large amounts of data with fast, iterative processing and intelligent algorithms, allowing the software to learn automatically from patterns or features in the data.
As an innovative invention, AI has positive and negative effects. Some of the advantages are, AI automates repetitive learning and discovery through data. AI adapts through progressive learning algorithms. AI could work repeatedly without getting exhausted. Besides the advantages, AI also have negative impacts if is not used wisely. AI could replaces human jobs. There will be jobs people do today that machines will take over. This will require changes to training and education programs to prepare our future workforce as well as helping current workers transition to new positions that will utilize their unique human capabilities. AI also could be misused to do crime and terrorism. With the efficiency of AI, people could use it to doing cyber-crime and terrorism. It could be used to create advanced harmful weapon to war and it could threat human population.
In conclusion, artificial intelligence is a technology that give high impact for change. It can make human life easier and provides many advantages. AI is a broad field of study that includes many theories, methods and technologies, and also includes many science. AI could do almost anything depends on the programs, it is very multifunctional technology. If we use wisely, AI could be a new hope for our future and create the industrial revolution for a better world. My suggestion is we need to keep learning and developing the tech without ignore the human’s capabilities and human resource. Because as great as possible the technology, it still the creation of human, technology could not take over the human’s important role. It exist to be human helper in promoting a better life, not to replace humans’ role in life.
