Social computing is a programmed system to support online interaction and can be collaborated for various aspects. While developing this system, fellow internet users can communicate with each other. In 2006 the system of social computing was proliferating. Because of the new features that make it possible to communicate and interact with each other, social computing is starting to be looked at and used in the development process in the education world. Besides that, it is also used in the business world, making it social e-commerce. Social computing is also related to social sciences, computers, and economics. The fundamental aspect of social computing comes from human intelligence to support the process of carrying out computing-related tasks. Social computing is designed with a digital system to support online interaction for fellow internet users. The existence of technology, such as social computing, can have an excellent effect on the future evolution of the Internet world. In addition, social computing can also be an investment asset and has excellent potential in the business sector. It can also have an impact on the economy and also on society. All of this is still in the development stage and ongoing in building the community, attracting more users, and adding more features to make it more attractive.

The purpose of writing this topic is because this system can support interaction and communication with each other online. Moreover, developments in social computing were very rapid and significant starting in 2006, as written in the first paragraph earlier—as well as social commerce and social software that do software development with influence for a company. Because social computing is increasingly developing, it has a good influence on other fields, such as business, economics, the internet, computers, and education. If it is adequately developed in the future social computing can be more reliable and have a higher level of users.

The development of the era of business technology and business is also growing. Because the products offered and promoted are not only a few, this causes competition in the market to become increasingly fierce and compete with each other to attract consumers’ attention. Each party also maximizes its efforts in promoting their products as best they can. With attractive promotions, it can attract consumers’ attention, increasing market competition opportunities. In designing a product promotion, many ways that can be done. One example that can be done is by advertising products in public such as placing banners or banners on the side of the road, then placing advertisements on various social media. Of the two ways, promotion on social media is more effective and efficient because media capabilities are becoming more interactive in the current era of globalization and have a unique appeal to consumers today. In interactive media, consumers are more flexible in holding control to find and receive the information they want and avoid what they do not like. According to the information that can be obtained, examples of interactive media today are e-commerce or electronic commerce.

Information that we can find out in 2011 from Colombus Furniture stated that e-commerce has a transaction system designed electronically. It makes the transaction process today more practical and efficient. In addition, this transaction process is also carried out online and requires an internet network. In business, e-commerce is a social computing strategy designed to form an interactive network between distributors/suppliers, producers, and consumers. It can make it easier to categorize shoppers based on taste, location, age, gender, or other categories. Customers can also use shopping stores’ social network features like ratings, reviews, and recommendations to gather information such as shopping brands, sellers, and price ranges. Unions and clubs are shopping malls that offer discounts to their members, usually offering luxury brands that include deep discounts. It is more attractive to consumers because it is an easier and more efficient way to shop.

In addition to the positive influences obtained from social computing, there are also negative impacts and effects provided by social computing. Social computing can also have negative impacts, including security, and social computing should be a primary focus for researchers and business leaders. It will also

drive fundamental changes in various fields, namely computing, communications, collaboration, and business. Privileges owned on this server that are more intended for general use can be used and used using open source code and public access; this is something to be worried about because it can cause hacking of security access by manipulating the database on the server. It also harms the inter-users related to information security issues arising from social information technology platforms. The number of users who do not understand the concept of security is also a factor that has responsibility if there a rapid spread of viruses in the community’s internet environment. The point is to be more thorough and critical of corporations with networks or communities like this because they must be supported by technology that supports better protection and security efforts.

Social computing promises to be a powerful change and disruptive force in business, computing, areas of collective action such as politics, entrepreneurship such as film production, and fields of content and entertainment such as interactive distribution. With the changes caused by social data processing, web browsers are evolving into user interfaces for processing personal data. The operating system will likely change more fundamentally from a desktop-centric laptop to a web-centric digitized environment. The mobile data space surrounds users whose identities can be aggregated across platforms and applications. Such information spaces also attract companies and customers, as the former allows for a better and more dynamic evaluation of preferences, and the latter adds value through personalization and packaging. Social computing brings together different classes of users and gives more meaning to things like net neutrality, differentiated services, and the digital divide. This article examines some of the new business opportunities created by social computing. These might include business administration, extending the theoretical foundations of information society research into other disciplines, and advancing some disciplines by examining how fundamentally new problems arise.
