Cloud Computing
Cloud computing is a term we often hear. However, few people still understand its definition, functions, and how cloud computing works daily. In large companies and organizations, cloud computing’s impact is to make the interaction between one computer and another easier without consuming a lot of money. Cloud computing makes all work entirely feasible and does not require the use of extensive infrastructure. Cloud computing can even minimize costs within the company. Without realizing this, we use Cloud Computing to exchange information and data every day.
Cloud computing is the process of computerizing Internet-based technologies. Cloud computing systems allow users to store and process data virtually. Users also do not need to prepare a platform or support infrastructure, but only need to use the existing platform. These platforms are free (free to use) or paid. Generally, they can use the functions of this paid version more and more. Here are some of the benefits of Cloud Computing, namely:
1. Centralized Storage Media on the Server:
Cloud computing technology allows users to easily centrally store data on a server based on the services provided by cloud computing. Besides, in terms of infrastructure, users no longer need to provide virtual data centres and storage media for cloud computing.
2. Data Security:
In the application of cloud computing technology, cloud computing providers have provided data assurance so that data is not easily destroyed or damaged. The technology platform is ISO’s guarantee. Of course, cloud computing will make your data and information more secure than most people’s conventional methods today.
3. Cheaper and Durable:
Cloud computing does not require storage media on external hard drives because centralized storage media already exist on the server. Since all hardware or physical products have a lifespan, and after this lifespan, there are usually some damages and functions that cannot reach the best condition, and errors often occur.
Cloud systems use the Internet as a server to process data. The system allows users to log in to the Internet-connected to the program to run the required applications without installation. Infrastructure such as data storage media and instructions/commands from users are stored over the Internet network. Then these commands continue to be passed to the application server. After the order is received on the application server, the data that already ordered will be processed. In the final process, the user will show the user a page that has been updated according to the instructions previously received to enjoy benefits. It is easier to divide it into two parts: the front end and the back end. They are connected through a network (usually the Internet). The front end is the side of the computer user or client. The rear end is the “cloud” part of the system. The front end is composed of client computers or computer networks. It is also an essential application for accessing cloud systems. All cloud computing systems do not have to have the same user interface. At the back end of the cloud technology system, various computers, servers, and data storage systems make up the cloud. Cloud computing systems can include any computer program from data processing to video games. Usually, each application has a dedicated server.
Types of cloud computing services:
· IaaS (Infrastructure as Service):
IaaS is the most common cloud computing service model because it provides the necessary infrastructure for operating systems, virtual servers, data storage drives, and networks. IaaS provides the flexibility, reliability, and scalability that many companies search in the cloud computing system, and eliminates all office hardware. IaaS makes it an ideal choice for a start-up company looking for cost-effective IT solutions to support its business growth. IaaS is a fully outsourced subscription service used as a public, private, and many more.
The benefits of using IaaS: | The disadvantages of using Iaas: |
– Cost Saving
– Focus on Business Growth – Self-Service Provisioning |
– Unexpected Costs
– Lack of Support – Complex Integration |
· PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service):
PaaS is where cloud computing providers deploy infrastructure and software frameworks, but companies can develop and run their applications. Web Designer can create web applications easily and quickly through PaaS. PaaS service is very flexible and very powerful enough to help them. PaaS solutions are very suitable for business environments where multiple developers work on a project. This is also very convenient for situations that need to use existing data sources (such as CRM tools).
The benefits of using PaaS: | The disadvantages of using Paas: |
– Flexibility
– Effective Cost – Time-Saving |
– Data security is not guaranteed
– Depending on the vendor |
· SaaS (Software as a Service):
SaaS cloud computing solution involves deploying software over the Internet to various businesses that pay for a subscription or pay per use model and it is a valuable tool for CRM and other applications that require lots of websites or mobile access. SaaS is managed from the central location, so companies don’t have to worry about maintaining it themselves. It is ideal for short-term projects.
The benefits of using SaaS: | The disadvantages of using SaaS: |
– Easy Upgrades
– Good Accessibility – Lower Cost for Start-up Company |
– Lack of Control
– Limited Range of Applications – Connectivity Requirement |
In conclusion, cloud computing is a system that helps its users to store, secure data, run operation system, etc. which are connected using the internet. By using cloud computing, users or companies that use cloud computing to help their companies run their business will be made easier by using cloud computing again. By using cloud computing, large companies do not need to spend more to buy hardware – hardware that is usually used to store data. Therefore, many large companies use cloud computing as a container for data storage.
