More Information about Push Notification In Mobile Application

Push Notification is a feature that available in multiple digital platforms, such as phones and laptops or computers. It usually pops up on the top screen of the phone, or for computers, it usually appears on the right side of the screen.

Push Notification helps users to able to have quick access to relevant information sent by certain apps or programs, even if we are currently not using the app at the time. Or, if we are a registered inactive user on certain website, it usually sends some notifications, such as offers or login on new devices, etc.

Push Notification is mostly come from apps that are connected from certain client to internet. It usually also depending on which version of the app will send you certain notifications. It may vary depending on what scheduled notifications will be sent to users. For example, for famous e-mail client app, Gmail. It will regularly send us notification through our e-mail associated or registered and verified to certain website we signed up to, if something happened to our accounts or when there are some unusual activities, such as unusual transaction, unusual login from foreign devices we don’t even own, and so many more. Which usually leads to fake customer support scam to able to bypass 2-Factor Authentication through clueless users who thinks they are actual support service.

Aside from e-mail client, there are usually more than we thought. We see it every day without noticing it if we don’t know if it’s actual Push Notification provided by the app or program. For example, if we have subscribed to certain YouTube channel and clicked the bell icon, then every time the channel uploaded the video, we won’t be notified from the e-mail. But instead, we will see it directly through YouTube app notification on our phone.

If we install most e-commerce apps to make us shop easier from internet, we usually see bunch of notifications, either it may interest us, or some unwanted information we probably may not need. Because the app client doesn’t filter which user should receive those notifications. But as exception if there’s a sale on certain items that we put on cart or wish list. Because this kind of push notification targets to actual certain users, as if those notifications came because of user personalized, and tracks what our interest based on our search and view history from the e-commerce. Which will lead to indirect notification, usually can be seen while we scroll through social media advertisements of the e-commerce, we just browse a while ago, if there’s some promo happening to the e-commerce platform.

By having push notification on many apps, especially for popular ones which are most used or probably most rated on the certain app market, it will help users to have even more efficiency while using it. But it doesn’t just apply to apps. The app market itself will also send us notify whenever there’s an update or price changes to certain apps or games that we put on wish list.

While times and tech change every time, push notifications are getting more advanced with more well-developed IoT stuff appearing everywhere that are affordable and more efficient. For

example, for home livings, now we have smart techs that are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, makes user able to reach our home stuff easily. For example, whenever we forgot to turn off the smart lamp, it will notify us (depending on which brand and system is developed), or when there’s a move detected on the security camera, it will send us notification if there’s something unusual and should be alarmed. That way everything is smarter and more advanced, things called “Push Notifications” shouldn’t be annoying at all, although we often some unwanted notifications that we can’t personalize by the system itself.

There are more examples we see every day, but it will be kind of complicated or some probably not count as push notification at all. Usually apps with ads will show us some unwanted news we don’t even want to know about but it just appears, although it is not a news app.
