Strategy are ways or direction to achieve the goals or objection that makes the business still going on and can compete with the other competitor. Because we live in digital era, business strategy started to use digital business strategy. Digital business strategy use technology for the business model that only focus on the technology. So, only the business plan that need to be changed, not the business goals. There is an important aspect of digital business strategy, such as digital channel strategy and platform strategy.
Platform strategy is the new concept of digital business strategy. Platform strategy is how we can enter the market and the participants of the platform can get the benefit from others. The platform itself is an environment that is used to connect people or to create communities between people. As we all know, there are various of platform now. Every platform has a different function. There is a platform where people can buy products, get information, and even people can express their creativity freely, such as Google, Facebook, Instagram, and many more. The communities that are in the platform can be beneficial for the business.
Platform has many benefits because there is no limit to enter the platform, either small or big business. If you can manage or fit the platform to what user’s needs, your platform can be successful. You must focus on create a valuable concept of your platform so that the users want to use your platform and not move to other platform. And there is another advantage of the platform, you only provide the platform itself and the participants do the rest of it. If you don’t want to build a platform, you can make a partnership of the company that has a platform. That platform can make the customer know your products and you can also build an engagement to your customer.
How to develop platform strategy? Like what I’ve said before, we need to focus on creating value for the platform because the platform participants must receive benefits from others and we have to keep the participants on our platform. Then we need to attract both of the participants and the users. If you don’t have them, your platform will never success. If you already have this, you must make them interact. You must bring together the participants and the users on your platform, which is the platform strategy goals.
The platform must have terms and conditions that beneficial to all side. You must know what the features that your participants and user needs. If both of them feel comfort when use the platform, they won’t move to other platform. You must always update what is happening now, what kind of trends that are happening, and you can also collaborate with the influencers. This way sometimes effective to drive the users. The platform must user friendly, easy to access, and secure. You must also give your attention to the issues because the users definitely concern about that thing.
