1. What is an AI Agent?

An AI Agent is an artificial intelligence-based software system designed to achieve specific goals and complete tasks automatically on behalf of a user or organization. Unlike regular AI that only responds to requests, an AI Agent has a level of autonomy it can understand context, make decisions, and act independently based on data and defined objectives. AI Agents leverage generative AI and foundation models (such as large language models) to process various types of information text, voice, images, and code all within a single workflow.
