IoT in Our Daily Life

The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to billions of physical devices around the world that are now connected to the Internet, collecting and sharing data. With the advent of super cheap computer chips and the ubiquity of wireless networks, it’s possible to turn anything from a pill to an airplane into part of the IoT. By connecting all of these different objects and adding sensors, it adds a level of digital intelligence to devices that would otherwise be dumb so that they can communicate real-time data without human involvement. The Internet of Things makes the structure of the world around us smarter and more responsive, merging the digital and physical universes. The term IoT refers to things that we use every day that also connect to the internet, allowing us to either control or receive data about that “thing” from our smartphone or computer. The term IoT is used for any devices that wouldn’t usually expected to have internet connection. For the example, refrigerator, fitness band, watch, vacuum cleaner, machine, etc.

Businesses today are driven by the Internet of Things and the prospect of increasing sales, reducing operating costs and improving efficiency. Businesses are also driven by the need for regulatory compliance. Whatever the reason, IoT device deployments provide the data and insights needed to streamline workflows, visualize usage patterns, automate processes, meet compliance requirements, and compete more effectively in a changing business environment. IoT is very important in our daily life or in business.  Examples of how we use Internet of Things in our everyday lives include:

  • Smart appliances (stoves, refrigerators, washers and dryers, coffee machines, slow cookers)
  • Smart security systems, smart locks, and smart doorbells
  • Smart home hubs (that control lighting, home heating and cooling, etc.)
  • Smart assistants (like Amazon Alexa or Apple’s Siri)
  • Fitness trackers, sleep trackers, and smart scales
  • And more besides

Emerging consumer trends in IoT that include smart active wear, smart athletic shoes, and connected vehicles that tell us everything from how close we are to the vehicles around us to the best route to take to avoid rush hour traffic. IoT can make our life become easier, because we can save time, money, and we don’t have to be worry because everything can be controlled by using our smart phone.

In addition to our smart home devices, IoT is an important technology in business and industry, as companies get a real-time insight into the inner workings of their company’s systems. From the factory to the customer’s door, IoT offers insights into everything from machine performance to the supply chain to logistics operations.

With IoT, Companies can automate processes and save labor costs. It also reduces waste and improves service delivery, making it cheaper to manufacture and deliver goods and ensuring transparency in customer transactions. It enables companies to cut costs, increase security and improve quality end-to-end, resulting in a win-win situation for everyone. As a result, consumer goods are cheaper to manufacture, shipping is more predictable, and businesses can grow, which stimulates our economies while adding a sense of satisfaction.
