Impact of Business Intelligence Implementation in Startup Company

History of business Intelligent

The term “Business Intelligence” was originally discovered by Richar Millar Devens in “Cyclopedia of Commercial and Business Anecdotes” in 1865. Devens used the term to explain how a banker, Sir Henry Furnese, made a profit by playing information about his environment, before his competitors. “Throughout Holland, Flanders, France, and Germany, he maintained a complete and perfect range of business intelligence. The news of many battles was first received by him, and the fall of Namur added to his profits, thanks to the earliest receipts of the news.” (Devens, (1865), p. 210). The ability to collect and react based on information received, an ability that Furnese is very reliable, is still the heart of BI.

In an article in 1958, IBM researcher Hans Peter Luhn used the term business intelligence. He uses Webster’s dictionary definition of intelligence: “the ability to understand the deep connection of facts that exists in a way as a guide to action against the desired goal.”
